Salsa Trixie Frock

Salsa Trixie Frock
I adore the sweetness of this new dress release from Salsa. Although I’m covering up the best part of the dress with my cardi from Pig and that’s the bric-brac straps that continue on into the neckline. This look is so sweet, I’m giving guy’s tooth aches grid wide. Too bad my soul is black.
The dresses are available in 3 primary colors and are reasonably priced at $75. Style note: I did move the dress prim down a touch in order to not interfere with the cardi. The key is to wear the glitch pants on the pants layer and the jeans on the underwear layer so my pixelated behind doesn’t poke through Did ya get that?
The capris are the indecent butt-crack ones from Luck Inc. But they’re made decent again by covering up the valley of lost change.

Little Birdies from Salsa

Little Birdies
I love little whimsical touches like the birds embroidered on the simple inexpensive cardis from Salsa. A new release from them, each color comes with a sweet little simple bird embroidered on the breast. Birdies include a sparrow, pigeon, seagull, owl, and my favorite crow. This look has a vintage 40s feel to it.
Edit: Ooops. Seems like I had a wardrobe malfunction. Elsa Weatherwax gave me a heads-up that the swallow cardi pictured below really only has one birdy, not two. So sorry! Guess I have an original now.

Funky Butterflies

Funky Butterflies
I’ve just been in a funky mood lately clothing-wise. While I was waiting for a super-cute lucky board dress at shirohato, I shopped. Of course I’m gonna shop. I mean, how can I NOT shop? Get a grip.
At shirohato, they have these quirky clothes dirt cheap. I don’t wait for many lucky boards/chairs because I’m the type of person who stands in front of the microwave and says, “What is that like an entire minute? I don’t have a minute. Get on with it!” Yeah, I’m an impatient fuck. It’s a fact. As I was waiting for the characters 0-9 to pass on the lucky BORED (WTF?), I started using the tiny shop as my personal dressing room. Oh, like you haven’t done that when no one’s about. (Yeah, so there was this blue unicorn in the corner, but I’m sure he/she were not paying any mind. Besides, I’m pretty sure I wasn’t his/her type.)
Typically I’m not a fan of patterns on tops that look like they’re gripping my lady berries. However, this satin, handpainted jacket from shirohato was hard to resist. (Umm, hello, $40?!) I paired it up funky-like with the pants from the Urban outfit from Acid & Mala Creations and Naive’s brand new falling-down socks. I cannot get enough of those socks. (Psst, get the fat pack.) The great thing about them is that they don’t use the same attachment points as the cuffs. Yay! Attachment points can suck it.
The hair and hat combo is from Shop Seu. My PhotoShop skills completely butchered the sweet fuzzy/furriness of it, so use your imagination. I just wish it came in another color other than blond. Back in my early days, I used to be a blond, but grew tired of always shopping for blond textures. Trainers are expensive unisexy goodness from hoorenbeek. Oh, and I hate to tell you this, but you’re on your own with the hip chain. In one of my daily exploits of the grid, I found it. It’s from a shop called Gypsy Moon. However, the last time I was there, I couldn’t find it. I promise I’ll keep searching for it and update this post if I do. (Hey at least I’m not dangling Last Call yummeh’s in your face sayin, “Lookie here, pre-2007 bishes. You can’t haaaave. Neener”)
Oh, and despite spending a good 40 minutes last night, I still haven’t scored that cutie freebie dress. Someone hollah if you see the letter “H” at shirohato.

Tyranny Designs – Bird Watching

Bird Watching
I did the Skipping Stones hunt over the past couple of days. At first, I started running through the stores in search of the illusive, almost impossible to see skipping stone. (I can’t believe how many fellow bloggers I saw along the way, too. Way cool.) After my second or third store, I started to slow down and look at the store’s actual products for sale. What a concept, I know. I realize that one of the business reasons to host a hunt is to draw new business. And, given what’s happened to me, I would have to agree that the concept works.
I wandered about Tyranny Designs store, which is part of the SS Hunt. The store build itself is rich in texture, light and sound, so I didn’t mind wandering about. TD’s designs are unique, quirky almost. I saw this outfit with its sweet little blue bird and knew I had to have it. I have a blue bird tattoo in real life, so I’m a sucker for them.
I was so excited to put this outfit on and squeed with delight when I saw it even came with a little pet blue bird for my shoulder. Other details include sweet feathers that stick out of a hip pocket and a whip-stitch hemline. The outfit comes with the jacket that has a wonderful hand painted blue bird on it. The jacket has a vintage feel to it. It also comes with the short mini. The only fault I could find with the outfit was that the prim sleeves are not modifiable, so I had to make my arms a little thinner to accommodate. Not a huge deal! Oh, and lest I forget, the outfit comes in several different colors.
The socks are from Miel Mo and are MM’s hunt offering in navy. The earrings and bracelet are from Bliensen, another hunt participant. They’re super cool and very industrial looking being made from weathered gear parts.

Thinking About Fall

Thinking About Fall
In the “summer that never happened” for me, I’m starting to think a little bit about fall. Digging deep in my virtual closet I came out with this simple chocolate mid-thigh skirt by SLink. I remember purchasing the fat pack of these a long time ago. (Maybe 2 years ago? I hope they still sell them. Bad blogger, bad.) The skirt’s two-button, a-line simplicity can’t be beat and they come in lots of colors.
Also unearthed from the closet of doom is Nylon Outfitters beaded sweater. This sweater is a deal because for the price of one, you get two colors and layers with a tank and without a tank (not shown). Layered under the sweater are Maitreya’s Savoir turtle neck and Kookie’s tank top. I had to work a little attachment point wizardry to get Miel Mo’s pretty corsage (chest) and the turtle neck (spine) to cooperate, but if you don’t feel like messing with it, I’ve provided a picture without the turtleneck on the left.
New (to me) and very unique poses from Lyndz-Matic. If you haven’t visited her store in Thistle, do it. It’s so much fun to stand on the diner tables and make all Zoolander with the poses.

Lost Dreams Lizzie Maxi Dress

Lost Dreams Lizzie Maxi Dress
A great style from the 60s, maxi dresses are hot this summer, especially for us taller girls. If you’re petite, I am sure you’d get lost in it. From Lost Dreams is a pretty new maxi dress with an empire waist in a refreshing lemon. It’s sheer with a large floral print offered in smashing colors of lemon, watermelon and blue. Here I’ve kept the overall look simple by pairing with simple flip flop sandals from J’s, and my only jewelry is a bangle from Boon. Hair is a flowy and sexy. The new Minx release from Truth.

Retro Awesomeness
This new dress from Lost Dreams, with it’s retro 60’s-inspired print, makes me awesome in more than one decade. The dress in a clingy satiny lycra has great lines, a little cowl neck and hugs my curves in all the right places. It makes me very va-va-va-voomy!
The dress is also offered in a yummy pink. Believe me, I had a hard time making my mind up on which color. Isn’t that always the case? I swear, sometimes I stand in a store for an insane amount of time trying to figure out the most perfect color. I even walk up to the clothing article on the wall, stand in front of it, and cam out to see which one works best for my coloring. Ha! Ever do that?
Pairing the dress up with some fab blue boots from League. Which I thought at the time I was buying them that they were a total splurge for blue boots. I mean, how often am I going to wear blue boots? But I keep going back to them. The Kookie’s grey hole mania stockings add a very modern touch to the overall look.

Eclectica Jewelry

Eclectica Jewelry
New (at least to me) jewelry designer Tiffy Vella of Eclectica has some gorgeous, well-made jewelry designs. As she will tell you, it’s quality handmade prim jewellery, glasses and vintage items. Partially inspired by Art Deco, Arts and Crafts Movement and Art Nouveau, yet still original work conceived in a virtual world.
Below I’m wearing the Jazz Bakelite Set, which would probably be worth a fortune if it were a real life design, dontcha think? The set comes complete with an insanely gorgeous necklace that hangs just right, left and right bangles and beautiful drop earrings (not pictured). One thing I just adore about her jewelry is that it’s all easily resizable with one click of a sizing script. I LOVE that and am starting to see more and more designers use this. Makes custom fitting a breeze.
Wearing a summery/spring dress from So Many Styles. A find in my latest shopping spree there. This dress is silk with a handpainted drop sash and big buttons on the straps. It’s available in three different colors, including a great red. This dress has a Ralph Lauren feel to it.
(Sorry for the big honkin pictures. I wanted to show the detail!)

The Closet – Dead Leaf Dress

The Closet – Dead Leaf Dress
In Second Life one of the houses I choose to live in is a big old Victorian mansion. I’ve filled it with eclectic finds from across the grid. Items that cause you to look twice and things that make you look closer at them. When I think of designers, The Closet feels like my house. It’s filled with wonderous, interesting designs that make you look unique.
The feminine dress I’m wearing reminds me so much of the 1940s. (I don’t know why, it just has that vibe, even though the skirt length would be scandalous in the 40s.) The back drop of my house is a perfect setting for this look I’ve created. The dress has a great little flip skirt and darling scalloped sleeves that move and flirt when I move my arms. It comes in several colors as well. I just might go back and get them all. Cool oxfords from Tesla and suspender socks from Pig give the look some uniqueness. I’ve also paired it with a great big diamond bracelet and ring from caLLie cLine. I imagine it like a big vintage piece Maybe I inherited it from my crazy rich aunt who had a penchant for big shiny things, just like I do.
If you haven’t already, go check out The Closet. Wander about the rooms and look at the finds. I bet you pick up something you will just adore.

Paisley!
New fun paisley party dress from Callie Cline provides a fun silhouette. I just love the big wide belt. (It’s strapless unerneath and has great little flirty arm bands that aren’t pictured.) I added the leopard fur jacket from The Closet and a great sassy hair style from Curio which smacks of the 50s.
The dress comes with gem-changing bracelet and earrings.
