Businesswear

When I first joined SL back in the day, I wandered about looking at the clothes available. For a while all I could find was goth wear and club wear and in all of the wrong places. (Thank christ I found the fashion feed.) I was confused for a long time and thought, I don’t want to look like a hooker! I also remember thinking, but that’s just not me. I don’t dress like that.

I know a lot of folks to come to SL to dress like they normally wouldn’t in RL. I’ve always been one to dress like myself as much as possible. Of course, it’s fun to dress in things you couldn’t get away with in RL. That’s the beauty of SL and the beauty of fashion in SL.

I am a web designer by RL trade and have to dress professionally on a daily basis. Today’s look is something I would wear to the office. I took Street Magic’s beautifully-textured blouse and paired it with a Dela’s tweed pants. The pants have these cute ivory buttons on the waist; however, you can’t tell because the blouse is covering them. The Dela Katherine pants are a steal because it comes with both a skirt and a pair of these pants.

Style Note: The cutie glasses are from a Japanese designer named elleair Plasma. But it looks like her shop doesn’t carry them. I found them in one of my excursions to some Japanese sim. Unfortunately her profiles indicates she doesn’t speak English very well either.  I apologize for this. They’re hella cute, too, and come in a big old pack of colors, including googly eyes.

Oh Oh Oh, It’s Magic — Street Magic

Last week when I reviewed hair for Street Magic. I paid a visit to their shop and was excited by their clothing line and made a promise to myself to go back and pick some clothes up once my self-imposed weekly Linden clothing budget was reset. (I don’t know about you, but I had to put myself on a Linden weekly allowance. I got my bank statement and was floored by the amount of money I spend. Yikes. Sobering indeed.)

Speaking of Linden dollahs, the “Softish” outfit from Street Magic is quite the deal because it’s a skirt, top and leggings for one low price. I love the textures on the lace-trimmed tank top and the frayed hemline on the faded denim skirt. Another value is the Veronica bag from Wanda’s. It’s color change and has more colors to pick from than you can shake a pixel at. Plus you have the option of wearing on your shoulder or hand.

Oh, and while I’m at it…the Engineer boots from J’s are color change as well. Well worth the price tag because you can pair them up with jeans or a skirt, even if you just wear the foot with jeans, they’re a great shape. I find myself wearing them over and over. I am also wearing the new flexi hair from Detour.

Lost Dreams – Priscilla

Lost Dreams – Priscilla

I’m just old enough to remember this dress design and pattern being in style the first time it came around back in the day. Before some of you weren’t even twinkles in your daddy’s eyes. Now it looks modern again done in jersey with its modern drop waist and A-line skirt. Another sweet dress in Lost Dreams’ bevy of offerings. I layered it over Street Magic’s pretty blouse, which is gorgeous on its own with it’s photosourced wrinkles and prim collar. Also featured is the new flexi hair release from Detour named Johanna with its fresh side swept bangs that I totally covet in RL. Get your virtual behinds over to Lost Dreams.

Street Magic

Street Magic

New hair releases from Sexi Steampunk of Street Magic. She collaborated with her friends from Street Magic to make hair. I love this pig-tailed, piled-high look of the Nikki style. Sexi also offers hair designs in edgy, street and glam. Think David Bowie in his ziggy startdust era. Street Magic also has great clothes, too. I’ll definitely be back!

Style note: To get the coat and the dress prims to play nicely together, I had to use different attachment points and edit.

Rocking out with a great t-shirt and chanel cuffs from my sister from another mother, Mercedes Kane. She doesn’t have a store just yet, and this is her first outing, but if you’re interested in the t-shirt or cuffs, give her a shout out. Just think, you could have a piece of history and you could say, “I remember her when…” We all gotta start somewhere, babies.

Skin Flicks – Tracy Mini Dress

A newly released mini dress from Skin Flicks just bleeds sex. A form-fitting gold-spandex, heart-stop of a dress comes with lacing details on the hip, chest and the back of included gold stockings. The new denim jacket, which comes in three washes from en Svale, gives the dress a rocker chic attitude. A swingy, shiny bobbed hair cut from Maitreya tops it off.

(Edit: Unfortunately it has been brought to my attention that the store that carried the necklace below is no longer open. I apologize. For those of you who have been around awhile, go and dig in that inventory for it. It’s gotta be lurking about somewhere!)

Scoochie my Pucci

January 18, 2009

Scoochie my Pucci

Wandering lost in Paris the other day, I spotted a shop called Lost Dreams. Liking the name I wandered in and was pleasantly surprised. The designer, Estelle Parnall, has created a collection of retro dresses that are very Pucci-like in their patterns and colors. Well-made, this dress has a great detail of a racer back.

The dress highlighted below comes with a great scuplty black chain link belt, but in this case, I decided to forgo it for the new embossed belt from CoCo. Retro is available in 3 different colors including black and white. Fun silver-handled bag from Wanda’s  comes with a color change menu. It’s a real value.

Gypsy Soul’s Bittersweet

January 14, 2009

Gypsy Soul’s Bittersweet

Another fun release from Gypsy Soul with more black and white goodness. White corduroys topped off with a bold graphic cable-knit sweater and stripey socks. The cords are provided on two different layers so you can tuck them in to boots or wear them with your favorite shoes. I’ve added the corsage scarf from BP because after all, it is still January. The biker boots from Drawmachine remind me of my real life Frye boots.
